The use of Efalon® (PTFE) skived tapes as tape bearings
increases everyday as they provide cost saving in materials and
simplicity in production. It is possible to make tape bearings of any
diameter.
Deformation of Efalon®(PTFE) tape bearing under
load is
minimum.
As wall thickness is very low, it conducts heat better. Thus thermal expansion of Efalon®
(PTFE) does
not cause problems.
Free rotation of tape bearing prevents sectional wears.
Generally compounded Efalon®
(PTFE) skived tapes are preferred in the
production of tape bearings as their resistance to wear and load is higher compared to virgin Efalon®
(PTFE).
