DESCRIPTION
The use of Efalon® (PTFE) skived tapes as tape bearings increases everyday as they provide cost saving in materials and simplicity in production. It is possible to make tape bearings of any diameter.

  • Deformation of Efalon®(PTFE) tape bearing under load is minimum.

  • As wall thickness is very low, it conducts heat better. Thus thermal expansion of Efalon® (PTFE) does not cause problems.

  • Free rotation of tape bearing prevents sectional wears.

  • Generally compounded Efalon® (PTFE) skived tapes are preferred in the production of tape bearings as their resistance to wear and load is higher compared to virgin Efalon® (PTFE).

  • In food, textile, paper and pharma industries where product hygiene is important

  • Aqueus environments where lubrication is not necessary

  • Corrosive environments as in the presence of strong acids and alkalies

  • Applications where long operational life without maintenance is required

  • In components that operate at low temperatures where lubrication is useless

  • In equipment that operates at high temperatures where common lubricants decompose or evaporate (up to +270ºC)

  • In other environments with low or high humidity where other dry bearings do not function properly

  • In equipment that operates at low speeds and under heavy load where lubricants are discharged from other bearings

  • In cases where there exists the probability that mills can stick to the bearings and bearings can malfunction

  • When noise and vibration are undesirable

  • Low friction as in back and forth and rotational systems is a must

  • Where lubrication is difficult or impossible

  • Where load should be under control and dimensional stability is important

  • Electrical insulation is a necessity.
