EFALONâ

Efalon® (PTFE) maintains its properties and flexibility until degrees near absolute zero. It is not fragile even in liquid helium making it ideal for low temperature applications. As it is highly resistant to water, humidity, microorganisms, sunlight and is non-stick, it is popular among military units, especially in the maritime industry.

Efalon® (PTFE) is a very valuable material as it has perfect resistance to all chemicals and corrosion and can be used in a very wide temperature interval. Some application areas are as follows:

  • Gaskets, seals, O-Rings, V-Rings, compression packings and similar sealing elements

  • Diaphragms

  • Tubes, joint components, valves and pump linings

  • Boiler, reactor linings

  • Mixers

  • Hoses, bellows, sprinklers, steam jets etc.

  • Laboratory equipment

  • Porous filters

  • Conveyor tapes etc. for sticky, corrosive and high temperature environments

Efalon®’s physical characteristics such as low coefficient of friction, non-stickiness, resistance to high and low temperatures and its perfect weatherability combined with its mechanical properties enable it to find application areas in different industrial branches.

  • Bearings without lubrication and bushes

  • Piston rings

  • Wear rings

  • Hydraulic rings

  • Various pneumatic and hydraulic equipment components etc.

  • Compression packings and mill sealing components in valves and pumps

In valve sets and mills conveying chemicals, steam, hot oil, water, oxygen, LPG, coal gas, cooling gases and similar corrosive materials, Efalon® (PTFE) is used for absolute sealing. Very low coefficient of friction of Efalon® (PTFE) and its non-stick characteristic help reduce the force necessary to turn on and off the valve to a minimum. Efalon® (PTFE) valve sets and mill compression packings are hygienic, economical and durable.

Efalon® (PTFE) lining combines perfect heat and chemical resistance of PTFE with resistance of steel. The fact that nothing sticks onto Efalon® (PTFE) helps keep pipes clean and prevents clogging whereas the fact that it is a good insulator prevents freezing of chemicals in pipe lines and keeps them unaffected by external conditions.

Efalon® (PTFE) lined products produced by Polikim have been functioning in many facilities without any problems for many years. Polikim pays utmost attention to the packaging and delivery of its lined products. Lined products are protected by special coverings so that flanges are not damaged during delivery and stocking and external steel pipe is painted with protective paints.

 
ULPOLENâ

With its perfect wear and impact resistance, low coefficient of friction, silent operation and other superior properties, Ulpolen® 1000 has a very wide application area in boat and yacht construction. Some of its application areas are as follows:

  • Sliding elements

  • Bearings, underwater bearings

  • Directing rollers and guides in elevators

  • Chain bearings

  • Wear plates

  • Gears, rotors

  • Pump components and pumps

Ulpolen® 1000 is used in modern wharves in the construction of impact and wear plates.

 
KESTAMIDâ

Kestamid® is an engineering plastic used commonly for its superior mechanical, physical, chemical and electrical properties. It is replacing aluminum, copper, bronze, steel, fiber, brass and other metals in many applications with superior advantages as it is lightweight, resistant to corrosion, impact, wear, sea water and sunlight and operates silently without lubrication.

Making use of techniques specific to production of Kestamid® and mechanical resistance of metals, it is possible to make gears with steel core, pulleys, mixer rotors or produce Nylon® cylinders with steel mills.

Production technique of Kestamid® is extremely economical as it enables production of bearings, gears, wear plates and pulleys of any dimension and quantity. Some application areas are:

  • Rotating and sliding machinery components

  • Gears that operate without lubrication and silently

  • Wear plates, pulleys

  • Bearings and bushes

  • Components with steel core support

Kestamid® provides many technical advantages and long operational life in sliding supports, ship guides, modern docks and breakwaters compared to its conventional alternatives.

 
KESTOILâ and KESTLUBâ

Both materials have lower coefficient of friction, higher wear resistance and lower water absorption compared to Kestamid®. These superior properties enable Kestoil® and Kestlub® to find wide application areas in ship and boat main mills and rudder bearings.

 
CONTALONâ

Contalon® is a soft, flexible and very strong static sealing material produced of 100% virgin polytetrafluorethylene. It has perfect resistance to all chemical substances and to all weather conditions. Contalon® which can be compressed easily between surfaces of flanges provides complete sealing forming a large and thin stripe under pressure. Its application areas are:

  • Ships carrying chemical materials

  • Pump and compressor flanges

  • Manhole covers

  • Glass and ceramic joints

  • Glass filled plastic equipment and pipe joints

  • Flanges with big diameters

  • Damaged and rough surfaces

  • Concrete covers

  • Smoke channels and channels that require low compression power

COMPRESSION PACKINGS

Sealing elements are materials that prevent leakage of fluids from openings and joints. They are classified in two general groups as static and dynamic. Gaskets provide sealing between fixed or static components. Compression packings provide sealing in equipment that make back and forth movements, rotations and vibrations.
