In guide
applications, Ulpolen® with its many
different types is mostly preferred. Kestamid® is also used to a certain degree.
In addition to directing chains and absorbing
vibrations, Ulpolen® 1000 guides provide vital service such
as extending life of chain and reducing noise to a minimum.
Conventional guide applications of steel or stainless
steel require lubrication. When lubricant is diminished, wear and
abrasion are seen in rollers that rotate at high speeds. Ulpolen®
1000 eliminates the need for lubrication, avoids problems
caused by diminishing lubricants.
In neutral environments as in food and pharmaceutical industries, Ulpolen®
1000 is the ideal guide material. To comply with food and
health standards, plastic components should be washed and cleaned with strong chemicals. Ulpolen®
1000 resists chemical washing and continues to present all desired characteristics
thereafter.
Ulpolen ®1000 with solid lubricant additive is used
specifically in bottling industry. Solid
lubricant decreases the friction coefficient even further and reduces squeaking in
conveyor corners
and turns to a minimum. It helps reduce undesired inefficiencies such as
material waste due to friction and breaking and also noise.
In cases where resistance to high temperature (+260°) is required, Efalon® (PTFE) should be preferred. PTFE is
also advantageous due to its low coefficient of friction, slipperiness and non-stickiness.
PTFE is best used in applications such as sliding ovens and cabinet
doors.
