Gears are machine
components with circular geometry cut in different profiles used for
changing and/or redirecting motion. Gears have many types such as
straight, infinite, helical, herringbone, conic, bevelled and chain
gears.
The most important factors that make Kestamid® the ideal gear material
are its high compression strength and wear resistance. These
characteristics make the product long lasting.
Kestamid® gears are lighter than their metal counterparts and therefore are less
costly. When moving parts are made up of metals, periodical lubrication
is a necessity. The fact that Kestamid® is self-lubricated eliminates
lubrication needs and
brings a lot of advantages.
In the textile industry, in addition to the properties listed above,
Kestamid® gears are preferred also for their silent operation.
It is possible to produce Kestamid® gears starting from 1cm up to 2meters
diameter. The fact that Kestamid® gears can be
produced economically in high quantities enables them to be
preferred intensively in paper industry and others.
It is possible to produce steel bush core Kestamid® gears, pulleys or
mixer fans or produce Nylon® cylinders with steel axis by making use of
mechanical resistance of metals and the techniques
specific to the production of Kestamid®.
Ulpolen® 1000 is preferred in the production of gears that require high
chemical resistance. Galvanization, phosphatization and other coating
baths can be given as examples to this range of applications.
